The University of Wollongong (UOW) is at the forefront of university education, offering 30,000 students study options across undergraduate and postgraduate degrees across nine campuses. Their vision is to be a leader in ideas and solutions, a community of campuses and partners where discovery, learning and technology connect to transform people and the world we live in.
- The challenges
Like all Universities, UOW is facing massive change and challenges to their traditional business through the advent of the Internet.
These challenges include new competitors (TAFEs, Colleges, other Universities, pure-online Universities globally) offering online courses.
This has led to a breakdown of traditional geographical student marketplaces in regions close by a University’s campus. No longer can UOW rely on surrounding areas for new Student intake, and a global opportunity has opened up for UOW to attract Students from across the globe.
- The solution
As partner to UOW, Bullseye was tasked with designing a new customer user experience for site visitors and to build their engagement with UOW and with their area of interest. The customer focused approach was to ensure the refreshed site would resonate with the target audiences, would answer their questions and build excitement for UOW study options. This project involved a rebuild of the UX and design principles of the ‘Future Students’ section of their website.
- The impact
The university was delighted when the changes went live on 17 October 2013 and there has been a 100% increase in enquiries in the first month alone.
